For over 98 years Birkbeck’s Jewellers has established and upheld a reputation for the highest quality examples of jewellery, with a history of service that dates back to 1912.

First opened by Vic Birkbeck in Southport’s Nerang Street, Queensland, the unsurpassed reputation of the shop continued with Vic’s daughter, Helen, who preserved the family involvement with the business until her retirement in 1990 after a lifetime of service.

My name is Michael Ford and along with the dedicated help of my wife Liz, we endeavour to keep the tradition of Birkbecks alive. As Vic’s grandson, I take a great pride in maintaining the reputation of our jewellery, for customers old and new. We can boast a continued support from clients, whose families have shopped at Birkbecks since Vic first opened his store all those years ago!

We make frequent trips overseas to visit gem merchants, manufacturers and attend trade fairs.

As a result we are able to offer an extensive range of readymade jewellery from home and abroad, including an outstanding selection of engagement and diamond rings, Italian handmade 18ct gold necklaces and bracelets, South Sea Pearl strands and the latest in contemporary design from Thomas Sabo and Pandora.

Our loose diamonds are sourced from merchants across the globe to provide you with the optimum combination of quality and value.

Our watches and giftware also include stocks from the leading international brands - Tag Heuer, Baume & Mercier, Longines and Rado, Swarovski and Alessi as well as Versace by Rosenthal and Australia’s own favourite tableware provider, Don Sheil.
